In times of stressful and hectic daily schedules, nature serves as a resting point and a place of secure refuge. Children engaged in nature will become less hyperactive, less aggressive and more focused as well as find ways to come up with their own research and creative games. Sand and water will especially help younger students to develop their gross and fine motor skills. Note that gross motor skills have to develop before fine motor skills. In cities, where children are less exposed to nature, gardening helps create a relationship with nature, be it in a school setting, community garden or at home. Even small spaces like balconies, window sills or sunny inside spaces are sufficient for children to create their own garden.
