In middle school, students are well into developing their analytical skills. Examples of well-suited projects are the following: In mathematics, teachers can create historical applications of triangulation where students have to go back in history to the year 900 B.C. On the Greek coast, they have to determine the arrival of a sailboat by using simple mechanical instruments. In French as a foreign language, German students drafted materials in French explaining the differences between the German and French school systems to their French exchange partners who were due to arrive in Germany a month later. They then published their findings on the school web page where the French exchange partners could read them and get prepared for the different experience.
